The Gloss
Radox has unleashed 4 fresh new citrus flavours which help to bring back memories of summer. The four citrus variants are themed around improving your mood and awakening your senses:
  • Revive Mandarin and Lemongrass
  • Uplifting Grapefruit and Basil
  • Energise with Key Lime and Peppermint
  • Invigorate with Lemon and Rosemary
Guaranteed to help you start your day with a spring in your step, these zesty shower gels will give you the perfect uplift you need to get through the cold winter months.

The Lowdown
The bright orange packaging of the Mandarin and Lemongrass shower gel will ensure you'll spot it when you step bleary eyed into the shower in the morning. It has a uniquely shaped bottle that is designed so it's easy to grip. The fresh Mandarin and Lemongrass scent is strong enough to awaken your senses but not so overpowering that it's off-putting. The gel does lather although not so much that you look like you're sprouting bubbles.

After showering there a slight scent that lingers for a few hours on my skin. I love how fresh this shower gel is and how the gorgeous smell invigorates the senses.

A great buy that will help you to feel bright and energised all day.

 I give it 4/5

Grab yours whilst it's on offer for only £1.00 at Boots

Advantages
  • Gives a fresh invigorating feeling
  • Lovely Mandarin and Lemongrass scent that helps to wake you up in the morning

Sure Women Maximum Protection Anti-perspirant Deodorant review

$

 The Gloss
Sure Women Maximum Protection Deodorant is a dermatologically tested TRIsolid cream that is scientifically proven to reduce wetness. Using innovative body response technology it contains three important components which include:
  • The maximum wetness protection from Sure
  • Odour fighting technology
  • Skin moisturising ingredients

The Lowdown
Normally I use spray deodorants as they're simple to use and can be quickly sprayed when in a rush. The Sure Maximum protection anti-antiperspirant deodorant is innovative as it is unlike any deodorant you may have seen before. Unlike deodorants  that reduce bacteria and add fragrance to masks smell, the antiperspirant deodorant helps to eliminate sweat in addition to preventing odour. The product is kept fresh with a silver seal to avoid any contamination and to avoid any bacteria getting in. To get to the product you need to twist the bottom which pushes the powder towards the top. It wasn't the easiest product to maneuver and I found that only a small amount of the cream reached the top which reduced the amount that could be applied. On first impressions I felt the product itself looked quite unusual as I have never seen cream used as a deodorant before. It has a very strong smell which I have to admit is quite off putting initially, however it's not as strong once the cream is applied.

With a enclosed leaflet that gives guidance on the product and answers any questions I felt it was a excellent way of introducing people to the product and giving insight into how it works.

The product advises to apply the night before for the most optimal results as it is designed to work over a 48 hour period. The cream was pleasant to use and didn't irritate my armpit area even after shaving. The next day my armpits still smelt fresh and despite doing some heavy duty shopping that afternoon my armpits remained dry. The products scent certainly faded over the course of time but I didn't detect any bad body odour which suggest the product was still doing its job.

Overall, a innovative antiperspirant deodorant that works over a long period of time, helping to keep your armpits dry and odour free.

Buy this for only £4.99 in Boots and get a free sample (online only)

I give it 4/5

Advantages
  • Innovative design
  • The antiperspirant deodorant helps to prevent odour and sweating
  • Works over a 48 hour period so it is not essential to apply in the morning if you feel the product is still working
Disadvantages
  • The product is quite different to a typical deodorant and some people may find the unique design a little off putting and tricky to use.

Sure Compressed Cotton Ultra Dry Antiperspirant review

The Gloss
Sure Compressed antiperspirant uses motion sense system to compress 250ml of product into a 125ml can. The product is dermatologically tested and alcohol free to allow for comfortable wear.

Designed to last for 48 hours the Motion Sense system helps to protect you when you move.

The lowdown
I have used quite a few of these compressed antiperspirants before and I'm still on the fence as to whether they last as long as their bigger counterparts. It has quite a fresh smell and didn't leave any white patches when applied. Later that day I still smelt fresh and didn't experience any wetness the entire day.

A excellent antiperspirant that really does the job by keeping you sweat free and smelling good all day.

I give it 5/5

Advantages

There's currently a offer on where you get 2 Sure deodorants for just £4 at Boots
  • Keeps you dry all day
  • The product is long lasting and I still smelt fresh later that day
  • Small handbag sized product which can be easily whipped out on the move

Disadvantages
  • None that I can see

Top tips on how to be a savvy shopper!

$

Cashback
You've probably all seen the adverts in the magazines offering you cashback when you buy products online. You might think it's just a ploy or a scam to get you to spend money and fear you won't actually get anything in return. I can confirm it's all genuine, and you really can get paid just for doing the shopping you need to do.

Sites like Topcashback and Quidco offer money back on food, fashion, insurance, travel, hotels and lots more. Top offers include £168.00 to kit your home out with the complete Sky bundle, £105.00 for Plusnet broadband and lots more.

When I was struggling with paying for the vital things in life getting cashback gave me the opportunity to set a little money aside and use it for special occasions like birthdays or Christmas which I couldn't otherwise afford.

Voucher codes
I've always hated having to pay full price for things and when I found there were actually regular voucher codes available to help soften the blow I couldn't believe it. Nights out to restaurants like Zizis and Beefeater were suddenly affordable as I could get 10% off or one main meal free. The codes even worked online and what would be a £100.00 shop got transformed into £80.00. The extra money I saved went a long way and helped to fund a luxury holiday to Greece for the whole family.

I found the best sites were Voucher Codes and Money Saving Expert

Competitions
You may wonder how competitions fits in with being a savvy shopper but I can assure you it does have some logic. There are many free competitions available on the internet, and even on your tub of butter that gives you the opportunity to win a product you could never afford or a holiday to Florida you could only dream of. Having entered competitions for several years now I can only vouch for the positiveness it has brought to my life. Free ipads, trips to Paris and Ireland, shopping vouchers and even a movie premiere bring so much happiness to my life and my families, but also helps me to save money I would have spent otherwise. Instead of saving months for that Ipad I won it, and it only spurs me on to try and win more. If I don't need the prize I can sell it on Ebay and use the funds to feed my family, or even put it aside for some treats for them.

The best sites to try are The Prizefinder and Moneysavingexpert

Surveys
Companies all over hte country are dying to get your opinion and there's no better way to do it then through survey panels. The surveys which are completely free give you the opportunity to tell companies what you think of electricity, water, beauty products, food and so much more. Every survey you do gets you points or money which you can put towards shopping vouchers, gifts or a monetary value through Paypal. Every reward is a treat for my family, whether I can buy them new clothes or put the money aside for Christmas or their birthdays.

Since the birth of the internet I have managed to save so much money and really become a savvy shopper. At every corner there is a opportunity to save a bit of money with a voucher code or even make some with a easy survey. It's so easy to do and is so rewarding in the long run.

My Little Box is the brand new beauty box that comes all the way from France. It began life 5 years ago as My Little Paris, on the rooftop of a building close to Montmartre. The newsletter which was originally sent to a few friends, spread the word about secret Parisian addresses, the idea spiraled and word soon spread building up a community of 1.5 million readers. From that point the brand didn't stop and after writing three books, they launched My Little Box. With 80,000 subscribers already in France My Little Box have finally launched in the UK. The beautifully illustrated boxes include must have beauty products including those from their own in house beauty range My Little Beauty, fashion and lifestyle accessories, my Little World magazine, illustrated goodies by Kanako and lots of other surprises.

I first saw this box on someones blog and loved how cute they looked. You can subscribe for £11.00 a month plus £3.95 postage and packaging which is a little bit more expensive then our UK friends but it depends on what you're looking for in a box.

My Little Parisienne Box is one of the first My Little Boxes to hit UK soil. The box is themed around the romantic city of Paris, including a array of treats straight from the imaginations of the creators Fany and friends. Featured on the box's imagery is a lady enjoying a coffee in a cafe with a copy of a French newspaper.

So what's inside?

Stickers!
The surprise gift is a set of Paris themed stickers that give you a bit of Paris to stick everywhere, be it on your phone, your fridge, your notebook, window or even your computer. The male sticker almost looks like a certain Robert Pattinson, would you agree?

Notepad
My Little Carnet is a cute little notebook that not only tells you the story of the brand but it also gives you room to jot down your dreams to your hearts consent. It even has a ribbon to keep it tightly shut.

Geek is the new chic laptop case
This cute polka dot themed laptop case is perfect for giving a fashionable new home for you to transport your laptop around. Whilst the material isn't exactly strong, as long as you don't go bashing your laptop around (which I'm sure you don't!) it'll be perfectly safe.

Encased in a adorable bow themed drawstring bag were the following beauty products:

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer
This award winning primer is just what I was hoping to see in a beauty box. The primer is the perfect compliment to your foundation, allowing your foundation to be applied properly and avoiding any embarrassing makeup lines. Final Thoughts
All in all my first impressions of My Little Box are good ones. Beauty boxes often have a lot to prove when they first launch with the pressure of many existing brands with thousands of followers. With a existing backing My Little Box is proof of its success and I can only see that rising in the UK. The items in the box are super cute and I can see myself actually using them, especially the complexion brightener and primer. Tres bien!

My Little Box by Diane Von Furstenberg is a box exclusively designed by the famous American fashion designer best known for her wrap dressed.

The box which is sturdily designed has a cute image of a lady wearing a leopard print dress chatting on the phone. No stone has been left unturned and even the sides of the box have a fantastic zany black and green pattern.

Inside we firstly come across a illustration from Diane advising that we should be the woman we want to be. It shows what I believe is a depiction of Diane sprawled across a desk in front of some of the worlds most famous sky scrapers. Wise words from a wise woman.

October's magazine which is themed around fashion and the iconic wrap dress gives you a exclusive interview with Diane, a glowing makeup tutorial, tips on how to give body to your hair and even a tutorial showing you how to wear a scarf.

So now you've got a little insight about what October's box is all about here's a glance at what treats are in store.

Leopard print scarf
Diane Von Fustenburg's influence reigns heavily on this box, and none more so then in this exclusive leopard print scarf. This gorgeous scarf is packaged so carefully in its own little box and includes a diagram on several different ways to wear and use the scarf.

A Kiss from Diane
If you love your accessories this cute little kiss pin will take pride of place on your coat. This bold lip pin is bright enough to draw a few eyes but small enough that it can be easily hidden away if need be. It's a cute little bit of jewellery that's actually quite different to what you would find on the high street.

Eau Micellaire Demaquillante My Little Beauty 'Micellar water'
You've had a long hard day, and been hard at work for most of it. Now you've dragged yourself into the bathroom an see in your reflection that you haven't even taken your makeup off yet. It may be a pain when the last thing you want to do is wipe your makeup off but spending one minute with My Little Beauty's Miscellar water will actually remove your makeup, and use its orange and aloe vera properties to smooth even the most sensitive skin. It's refreshing and easy to use and so much nicer then piling into bed with your makeup still on.

L'Occitane Vanilla Hand Cream
You may not realise it but you probably use your hands all. day. long. Whether you're typing, holding your shopping bags, touching your phone, clapping or even doing your buttons up you're using your hands. Your hands do so much for you and it's about time you gave something back. The lovely vanilla scented cream helps to nourish and restore your hands, leaving them soft and supple. Perfect for preventing your hands cracking in the cold weather that's yet to come.

Final Thoughts
October's Very Paris themed box is great for reminding you of the great products to hail from our nearest neighbour. Whilst the box is very cute and packaged beautifully I have to say the products didn't really set my excitement alight. I have to say I am disappointed, especially compared to last months launch box but every beauty box can be hit and miss. It certainly has great potential and is definitely a box to watch.

Helen E Stage Foundation review

The Gloss
Helen E Stage Foundation is a multi-function product that is fantastic for the stage and screen but still light enough for everyday use.

Formulated to create the perfect base it will leave your complexion looking and feeling flawless for longer. The foundation is paraben and fragrance free, and contains Vitamin E and natural antioxidant properties so you can ensure it will be leave your skin soft and well moisturised.

The Lowdown
When I was offered the opportunity to pick several Helen E products to test, this foundation really caught my eye. I currently use Lancome Touche Miracle and whilst it is good I'm always on the look out for something that's a 'little bit better'. The idea of a stage foundation conjures up a image of luminous movie star skin and that was a effect I was keen on achieving.

The packaging is fairly plain and the foundation bottle itself is really light. When I swatched the foundation I found it was actually really dark and didn't seem anything like the Monroe fair shade it described itself as on the box. I had visions of looking like an oompa loompa and I have to say that did put me off using it a little bit.

When I applied the cream I found it blended into my skin really well and I didn't look at all orange, but I was less pale and had more warmth to my face. The coverage is okay and whilst it could conceal a few minor blemishes it certainly doesn't have the capability for covering any major spot or under eye circles. It was dewy and made my skin glow in places and didn't leave it greasy.

I would say my skin does look quite nice wearing this foundation and it is a easy to wear day product. Whilst it is designed for the stage I wouldn't say it has the strength required to stay looking good in front of the camera and lights for a long time as it is quite light.

I give it 3/5

Advantages
  • Light foundation that blends well
  • Leaves skin dewy with a light glow
  • Skin remains matte and not oily
Disadvantages
  • Don't expect it to cover any major flaws or blemishes

Halloween may be over but it's never too late for ghoul-tastic nails. This spooktastic nail tutorail was really easy to create and only used three nail products:
  • Barry M black nail pen

Here's how to recreate this for yourself:

  2. Paint the one nail you've chosen as your statement nail white
  3. Using a striping brush carefully drag three white lines vertically down your nail
  4. On your statement nail get a black nail art pen or if you've got a steady hand a nail art brush and paint two eyes
  5. Next mark two small circles for your skulls nose
  6. Carefully draw a smile from one side of the nail to the other
  7. Finally add a  few spooky teeth

Pack in some relaxing me time before your wedding with a Beauteque bridal bag

When you're planning a wedding there is a lot of stress involved with all the preparation in anticipation of the big day. So after all that planning it's important to allow a bit of me time to ensure that you don't burn yourself out. Beauteque gave me the exclusive opportunity to try out their new Bridal bag which is perfect for a bit of me time pampering before the big day.

The products come in a gorgeous sparkly gold flower patterned bag which you could reuse after you've had fun playing with your new products.

So now the formalities are over lets take a look at what's inside...

My Beauty Diary Pearl Powder Mask
This unique face mask aims to brighten, whiten, nourish and repair your skin. The product is from Taiwan which may reflect its rather unusual 'whitening' properties which is created through pearl power and elements such as Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc. It aims to repair skin before stress occurs with Mulberry extracts and rich tea. Finally skin is renewed with the soothing extracts of liquorice, yeast protein and rich tea Polyphenol leaving your skin soft and smooth.

My Beauty Diary Red Wine Mask
The Red Wine mask is another exclusive face mask unlike anything you have ever seen in the UK. The mask contains red wine Polyphenol, a essence from  red grape extract, and is accompanied by Cosphingo, a long lasting moisturising ingredient. It helps to prevent irritation on the face and enhances the skins natural mechanism of sealing water which helps to make skin more nourished and restore radiance. Alongside the moisturising element is the incorporation of Camellia and yeast to make the skin seem luminous as if blusher has been applied. The mask contains collagen to help firm skin and Red Algae and Aloe Vera to help promote the renewal of elastic substances deep in the skin tissue which helps refine the skin texture and complexion.

 Eye mask
As you can imagine the eye mask is pretty self explanatory. It has a terry like fabric which isn't the softest on the skin but the baby pink colour is really girly and adds to that idea of 'me time'.

My Beauty Diary Pure Tea Tree Facial Mask
Derived from Korea this pure tea tree pore purifying mask helps to control oil and cleanse your pores. Formulated with refined glacial marine clay to help clean pores and control oil production. Perfect if you have trouble skin caused by pores that are clogged up by dirt or excess oil.

 Liole Blooming Shimmer Pearl Base
Give your skin a radiant glossy finish with this shimmer pearl base. The product enhances your skin by adding light diffusing colour properties that gives skin a natural glow. After applying your moisturiser dab it on your forehead, cheeks and nose before applying foundation for a smooth finish.

Beauteque Seoul Sparkle Eye Shimmer
Once your skin has been pampered to excess and you've had enough of relaxation it's time to get your glad rags on and party. This shimmery fine pink is quite a versatile colour and can be worn casually during the day and glammed up at night with a strong lipstick or eyeliner.

Beauteque Double Ended Eyeshadow brush
The double ended brush allows you to blend eyeshadow and keep your eyebrows looking tip top at the same time. The brush looks quite premium and the dual ended element means you save money and room in your makeup bag.

If your big day is looming ever closer and you want to invest in one of Beauteque's new bridal bags you can get a exclusive 10% discount with the code GLITZ1.

BeautyUK launch a range of new CC creams

$
0
0

The Gloss
New to BeautyUK is a lightweight and hydrating colour correcting cream in three shades, biscuit, natural and fawn. The formula contains light reflecting pigments to help give skin a radiant complexion and at only a fraction of the price of other CC creams on the market it offers incredible performance.

The Lowdown
Whilst I was sent all three shades to test, I chose natural as it's the closest to my skin colour. With only three shades the colour palette is rather limited and aimed at the fairer skinned of us all. After trying L'oreal's CC cream that turned me orange that may be a good thing!

The cream contains clinically proven SPF 30 to help prevent against harmful UVA rays. The fact that the cream offers such a  high level of protection in comparison to the majority of high street products is fantastic and really shows how committed BeautyUK are to protecting its customers skins.

The cream is surprisingly thick and has great coverage, I would even go as far as to say it's better then some foundations!

As you can see from the swatch both Natural and Fawn are pretty light and will suit very fair skin tones. Biscuit on the other hand is quite a bit darker and is more suitable for tanned skins.

The lightest shade, Natural, really suited my fair skin and I didn't notice any obvious tide marks.  I found the cream did help to mask some blemishes including the blemish on my chin and my dark circles, however I did still use a concealer as they weren't completely hidden. It's not completely matte and you will still need a little powder, but it stays put and doesn't end up swimming all over your face as you sweat.

After trying it on its own I used it under my foundation to give it a bit more staying power. It really helped to keep the foundation in place and gives it a little bit of a glow.

Even with the CC cream and foundation my skin looks really fresh and natural and not at all like I have a lot of makeup on.

I give it 4/5

Beautyuk launch a range of 22 new fantastic nail varnishes

$

The Gloss
BeautyUK launch 22 new statement shades in their flagship nail collection.

Pink You've Had Enough
The varnishes have been developed to offer the perfect balance of coverage, high gloss and intense deep pop colours to refined pastel hues. The varnish is designed to last for days without fading or chipping and dries quickly.

The new collection comes on the back of Beauty UK's Posh Polish collection and are perfectly pigmented with statement shine.

The Lowdown
The wide selection of available colours is really impressive and at only £2.99 you could buy them all and still have lots of money left over. For the review I chose to test Pretty in Pink and Pink You've Had Enough as the pretty feminine shades really took my fancy.

Pretty In Pink
Whilst the packaging is quite simple the varnishes still manage to maintain a premium effect which surpasses their small price tag. After applying the varnishes the one thing that stood out instantly is the high impact gloss and shine. The consistency of the varnish is quite thick and essentially you only really need one coat to give full coverage. I did notice however that for some reason the odd nail might come out thinner then the other coats. After about a minute the varnish was virtually dry although it was slightly tacky and could have been smudged if rubbed harshly.

Pretty in Pink is such a girly pretty colour whilst Pink You've Had Enough is a higher impact, almost coral like shade that really brightens up an outfit.

With a great range of colours, intense shine and gloss and a awesomely budget friendly price tag the new Beauty UK nail range is a real must have.

I give it 4/5

Available for £2.99 at Supedrug

Advantages
  • Available in 22 shades from neutral to neon
  • Adds high gloss and shine
  • Dries quickly
  • Budget friendly
Disadvantages
  • None that I can see

Helen E Cosmetic Cream and Concealer Duo: Tried and Tested

The Gloss
Whilst life may be full of choices and options, Helen E's Cosmetic Cream and Concealer duo helps to make life easier with their one shade fits all pack. The colour is designed to suit most skin tones whether you are very fair, olive or light Asian.

The concealer is lightweight, lasts all day and gives a natural flawless finish. It works by brightening up under eye shadows and reducing redness with the yellow concealer.

The Lowdown
Over the years I have sought long and hard for a concealer that actually lasted longer then two hours, didn't make me look like a panda and helped me look awake. Despite trying many different brands, types and different ways of applying I've yet to find that holy grail of concealers. So when Helen E gave me the chance of trying their concealer I was a little sceptical to say the least that one shade could benefit all.

So how did it fare?

The product is smartly packaged in a silver carry case. Inside are two shades, a darker tan like shade and a very fair pale shade. In case you need to touch your makeup whilst on the train or at work there's also a mirror for easy application. The cream is covered with a plastic sheet which is making the concealer sweat and on removing the plastic I found it's actually quite wet.

The concealer feels sweaty and quite loose on application. I initially applied the tan shade and felt it didn't really conceal anything. The pale yellow shade doesn't add much coverage and the area under my eyes just looked greasy.

I have to say I'm really disappointed with concealer and can't say the product really did anything for me.

I give it 1/5

The Body Shop and RSPCA join together in a unique campaign to Make Over The World

To highlight their work in protecting animals, The Body Shop and the RSPCA have come together in a unique collaboration called Makeover The World.

Despite thinking animal testing is a thing of the past, thousands of animals worldwide still suffer in the name of beauty. Whilst animal testing is now prohibited in the European Union, many well known cosmetic companies continue to test on animals outside of the EU to sell in other parts of the world or in those countries that require mandatory animal testing.

Following the EU sales ban which stops products tested on animals outside the EU being sold on our shelves, countries like Israel, India and Brazil have already looking into improved practices and legislation.

If you're one of the 7 out of 10 people who want a end to animal testing join The Body Shop in their campaign to Makeover the World by asking the top 10 global cosmetic companies to stop needless animal cruelty.

One unique part of the campaign involved in The Body Shop reaching out and Testing on the Blogger. When I was approached to take part I loved the idea and thought it was a fantastic way of raising awareness. I was sent a fantastic bundle of The Body Shop makeup to test and wasted no time in creating the perfect cruelty free makeover.

The Body Shop Colour Crush lipstick
Infused with a rich moisture this gorgeous lipstick gives a high impact colour. Available in 29 shades the lipstick offers real variety and shades to suit all whether you prefer nude lips to pillar box red. Colour Crush is a vivid crimson red that smells amazing and glides on with ease. I was disappointed by the lack of colour transfer when applied and felt it ended up giving the results of a lip balm or lip gloss.

The Body Shop Define and Lengthen Mascara
Say goodbye to short lashes with The Body Shop Define and Lengthen mascara. The product defines lashes and helps to make them longer with a smudge resistant glossy formula. The results are fairly average for a high street mascara and whilst my lashes were defined I didn't feel it added much in the way of length.
Available for £10.00 at The Body Shop

The Body Shop Shimmer Waves
Boost your complexion with five gorgeous shimmering shades for your face and cheeks. Whilst the product is a little expensive it has a multitude of uses and it can be used as a blusher, bronzer and even eyeshadow. The powder is heavily pigmented and whilst I didn't feel it added a lot of shimmer when on it's still a really useful addition to your makeup bag.

The Body Shop Colour Crush Eyeshadow
These intensely pigmented eye shadows have a pearlescent or matte effect based on the colour with a silky soft texture. They can be used wet or dry and are great for blending layers of colour. Available in 36 shades there's a eyeshadow for everyone occasion whether you're chilling with your friends or you're heading out on the town. Oh, Honey is a shimmery light gold shade that looks great with blue eyes and Head in The Sky is a deep cloud blue. Unfortunately the shades didn't add much colour when applied and I was more then a little surprised at this considering the price of them.

This Saturday I headed off to Canterbury to do a bit of shopping. I hadn't been in years, literally since I left Christchurch university in 2008 (a looong time) and I was feeling a bit nostalgic. I aimed to get some sweets from this little pick and mix shop they had at the end of the high street but in the end decided I didn't want them after all.

Instead I got these little beauties - psst some are these are christmas presents.
